Lectures are an alt-rock four-piece from Tunbridge Wells and their ethereal approach to the genre is one that may divide opinion. It certainly has me torn. Their new single ‘Entry Point’ has a nice groove and slow rhythm. The guitar riff and bass line are not in themselves much to marvel at, but together with the drums they prove to be quite catchy. However, I can’t ignore the nagging thought that it lacks a certain depth they’ve achieved before, such as on ‘Talking In a Vacuum’. The subtle electronic flourishes attempt to tie the track together along with Jacob Norris’ soft vocal, but overall ‘Entry Point’ doesn’t build on their Every Colour EP.
